Fuck Yeah Transit

A love affair with transit and cities

via copenhagenize
from the link - Berlin hopes to decrease its auto mode-split (i.e. % of trips taken by car) from 32% to 25% over the next 15 years.  This will be done via increasing cycling and transit use. Pretty awesome.
For reference, Toronto is around 60% of trips made by car, this is likely to climb with our new mayor. ugh.

LRT will be better than streetcars (duh)

“The first thing I need to clarify is that the 512 St. Clair streetcar line is not an “LRT” line like the proposed Transit City lines will be, or like those found in Europe… St. Clair is not a commuter line in the sense that a subway or high capacity LRT line is. St. Clair, on the contrary, is an integral part of the community it serves.”

Just in case you thought Toronto’s new LRT lines would be as slow as our streetcar lines.
